today, March 13 – A comment regarding good practices and well-being

this is a comment I’ve posted on all my social media, it’s worth putting here too.. as of today, the second Friday night market in downtown Dunedin I’ll be doing for a few hours this evening is still open, as are many events, while many more are already closed down.. it is so important that we all take care of ourselves and look out for each other, and what we are doing right now is absolutely critical to what comes next.

Just want to make a note – I believe we can be smart + safe + mindful and still enjoy ourselves 😊

It has been an integral part of braiding for me since day one to use best practices regarding clean hands, clean tools, and mindfulness of each and every person that sits in my chair… That means stronger-than-required Barbicide [disinfectant] for combs, brushes and clips; cleaning hands with wipes and then hand sanitizer between each braid AND if I should need to touch anything or anyone else during a braid.

I was taught well, and for what it’s worth, every single braider known to me personally follows the same good practices.

[Side note: the braiding license that I hold from the Florida Board of Cosmetology is issued for one main requirement – proper knowledge of health and sanitation practices.]

I pledge to you that while braiding in any event or venue I will have these procedures in place + ramped up with extra care and mindfulness, for your well-being as well as mine, and everybody in our community.

I have a giant bottle of hand sanitizer for my table and I’ll be happy to share with whoever needs any, too.

If it becomes necessary to make modifications to any of my events, or even close down all together, then so be it – as long as it means everyone can stay healthy and safe… Love y’all! 🧼🌊💖
